Why This Test Exists
AI shopping agents are not a future scenario. They are already filtering, comparing, and shortlisting products on behalf of buyers. The question is no longer whether agents will influence purchase decisions. It is whether your buyer will still insist on choosing you personally when an agent presents alternatives.
Most brands assume loyalty will carry them. But loyalty only holds when the buyer refuses to delegate the choice. If an agent can read your specs, compare your price, and confirm your reviews, the buyer might never see your name at all.
What This Test Tells You
You answer a short set of questions about your product, your buyer's behavior, and how your value is communicated. The test scores two things: how legible your offering is to an AI agent, and how personally invested your buyer is in making the decision themselves.
Your answers place you into one of four distinct profiles, each with a different exposure level and a different set of moves available to you, more than 300 unique ones.
The Four Profiles
- Your Buyer Refuses To Delegate The Choice - The stakes feel personal enough that your buyer keeps the decision in their own hands. Agents are not a near-term threat here, but the reasons matter.
- Brand Talk, Commodity Substance - You sound differentiated, but underneath, an agent can swap you out. This is the most dangerous position because it feels safe until it is not.
- The Answer An Agent Picks With Confidence - Your specs, reviews, and value are clear enough that agents can rank you and recommend you. You win in an agent-mediated world, not despite agents but because of them.
- A Commodity The Agent Can't Read Yet - You are undifferentiated today, but agents also struggle to parse your category. That gap is temporary protection, not a strategy.
Who Gets the Most from This
Founders and product leaders building in categories where comparison shopping is already common. Marketers who suspect their differentiation is thinner than their messaging suggests. Anyone selling B2B software, professional services, or consumer products where AI-assisted purchasing is gaining traction.
If you have already taken the Premium-Commodity Spectrum test, this adds a second lens: not just where you sit on the spectrum, but whether an agent or a human is making the call.
How to Use Your Result
Each profile has a dedicated results page that explains what your position means and what to do next. Do not stop at the label. The results page walks you through the implications for your pricing, your messaging, and your product roadmap.
Two follow-up tools pair well with this diagnostic:
- What Are Your Buyers Actually Paying For? - Clarifies whether buyers pay for features, reliability, or relief, which directly affects how an agent evaluates you.
- Revenue Ceiling Audit - Identifies what is capping your growth, which may connect to the same exposure this test surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

1
What does this AI agent shopping test measure?
It scores your product or brand on two dimensions: how easily an AI shopping agent can evaluate what you sell, and how much your buyer personally cares about making the choice themselves. The combination places you into one of four profiles that predict whether agents will commoditize you, shortlist you, or bypass you entirely.
-
2
Who should take this test?
Anyone who sells a product, service, or SaaS offering and wants to know how AI-powered purchasing agents will treat their brand. It is especially useful for founders, product leaders, and marketers whose buyers are already using AI tools to research, compare, or shortlist options.

What are the four result profiles?
The test returns one of four profiles: Your Buyer Refuses To Delegate The Choice (high personal stakes keep the human in the loop), Brand Talk Commodity Substance (strong branding but weak differentiation underneath), The Answer An Agent Picks With Confidence (clear specs and value that agents can read and rank), and A Commodity The Agent Can't Read Yet (undifferentiated, but also hard for agents to parse today).

Is this test free?
Yes. The test is completely free, with no sign-up required. You answer a short set of questions and receive your result profile immediately.

5
How is this different from a brand strength assessment?
Brand strength assessments measure awareness, recall, and sentiment. This test asks a narrower, more urgent question: when an AI agent does the shopping, does your brand still matter to the buyer or does it become invisible? A strong brand can still be commoditized by agents if the buyer is willing to delegate the decision.
