Who Controls This Site

This site is operated by Information Inc. Kft., registered at Jozsef krt. 77-79., Budapest 1085, Hungary. Information Inc. Kft. is the controller for personal data processed through public pages and admin authentication.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because our processing does not meet the thresholds requiring one under GDPR Article 37.

Data We Process

  • Necessary admin session data for admin sign-in.
  • Consent preference data stored in a signed first-party cookie.
  • Subscription status preference data stored in a signed first-party cookie after you confirm a subscription or arrive from an email link marked for subscribers.
  • Basic request and security telemetry needed to operate and protect the site.
  • Subscriber data you provide when you sign up for email updates, such as your email address and optional name.
  • Optional analytics data (which may include cookie identifiers, IP address, page usage events, site search queries, search result clicks, article share clicks, and app share clicks) only if you explicitly allow analytics.
  • Optional analytics goal dedupe data stored in signed first-party cookies only if you explicitly allow analytics.

Purposes and Legal Basis

  • Operate, secure, and maintain the site (legitimate interests).
  • Provide admin authentication features you request (necessary to provide the service).
  • Remember that this browser already belongs to a subscriber so we do not keep showing the signup form (your request / legitimate interests).
  • Send you email updates if you choose to subscribe (consent).
  • Run optional analytics only with your consent.
  • Avoid double-counting optional subscription analytics goals from the same browser (consent).

When Providing Data Is Required

Browsing public pages does not require you to provide identifying data.

If you subscribe to email updates, we require your email address so we can deliver the subscription and related confirmation or unsubscribe messages. Providing your name is optional.

If you submit a privacy request, we require your name, contact email, and request details so we can verify identity and process the request. Without this information, we may be unable to complete the request.

Admin authentication also requires account and session data. Without necessary admin cookies and authentication data, admin features are unavailable.

Children's Data

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us at privacy@mvrckhckr.com and we will delete it promptly.

Recipients and Processors

Data may be processed by infrastructure and service providers used to host and run the site. Optional analytics providers receive data only when analytics is enabled by your choice.

Email update subscriptions are processed through ActiveCampaign, which stores subscriber details and manages subscription status, confirmation, and unsubscribe handling on our behalf.

Retention

Consent preference data is stored for up to six months before expiration. Optional analytics goal dedupe cookies are stored for up to six months, or until analytics is disabled. Admin session data is retained only as needed for active admin authentication and is cleared when sessions end or when necessary cookies are disabled.

Operational and security records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for site operation, security, legal obligations, and dispute handling.

International Transfers

This site is hosted in the United States by DigitalOcean. When personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the US, the transfer is governed by Standard Contractual Clauses pursuant to GDPR Article 46(2)(c).

If you subscribe to email updates, your subscriber data may also be processed in the United States by ActiveCampaign under that provider's contractual transfer safeguards.

To request details about these safeguards, or a copy of relevant safeguard terms where available, submit a request through our Privacy Request Form and reference Transfer Safeguards.

Your Rights and Privacy Requests

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal data.

Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time through Privacy Settings. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Submit requests through our Privacy Request Form. We target a response within 30 days unless a different legal timeline applies.

If you cannot use the form or your jurisdiction requires a designated non-web method, email privacy@mvrckhckr.com with subject line Privacy Request.

To reduce abuse, we prioritize form intake and may request additional verification for direct-email submissions.

You may lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) at naih.hu, or with any other supervisory authority in the EU/EEA where you reside or work.

If you are located in Brazil or Canada, additional statutory rights may apply under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) or the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We intake and review requests through the same channel and assess applicable legal obligations before responding.

Cookies, GPC, and Do Not Sell/Share

Public pages remain available without optional analytics cookies. Admin authentication uses necessary cookies.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), we keep optional analytics disabled for that request context.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Do Not Sell/Share and manage analytics preferences in Privacy Settings.

Automated Decision-Making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling as defined in GDPR Article 22.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
